If your serious about mounting birds you need to do some more research.Buy a video on a specific bird mount and get some Breakthrough books. Also read this post everyday and you will pick up many different ways to do things. I been mounting ducks and pheasant for 4 seasons and I've learned a lot just reading this post and reading books and mags.First you have to learn how to skin and defat a bird. Then rebuild the meat you took out .Before you sew him up you rub the insides down very good with powered Borax.Dry borax, no mixing with water. Do some more research before you start another bird.
Don't remove the bone from the wings. For starting out I would use this method on the wings. Cut the wing off leaving all of the bone and skin attached to the skin. Remove all of the meat from the first bone from inside the skin. Cut the wing on the bottom from the first joint to the second. Skin this back until you can remove all of the meat. If your bird will be flying insert your wire from insid the bird to the second jonit leaving enough inside to go through your form and across the breast and back into the form. Use strong thread and tie the wire in a couple of places to the largest bone in the wing where you cut it. Also, tie the wire to the bone inside of the skin. Fill the area where you cut the wing with cotton(about as much as the meat you took out) and sew it up. Wrap the bone and wire inside with cotton and wrap with string or stron thread.
As for the feet you can get several different products to inject them with. I have use a couple different ones and they seem to work well.
If you bird will have the wings folded you do not have to put wire in them. Pin them in place so the pins won't show.
There are lots of good books on bird mounting and there is alot more to it than I have written here. After you do a couple and do some reading and have more specific questions I would direct them to Nancy M. She knows more about birds than anyone I know.
