Old School Methods

I was trained by a professor who learned taxidermy from the University of Iowa in the 50's. He instructed me to remove every piece of the flight web to prevent distortion when dry. It was replaced with thread or light wire pulled tight and clay to recreate the smoothness of the web. Most of the Masters that I have read or
see demonstrate their methods to do not take the time to remove the web. They usually just caulk the web. I would try both to see what
works best for you in your climate as humidity may also be a factor.

All purpose caulk

All purpose caulk seems to work real well with very little shrinkage
you can find it at home depot or wal mart.

I think it should come out ...

... on large birds, like turkeys and big geese. On smaller birds it doesn't seem to matter as much.
