dUCK hEADS

I'VE MOUNTED A COUPLE DOZEN DUCKS SO FAR. I just was asked to salvage a Blue Winged Teal for a friend. They rang his neck and it had rips on both sides so I figured I'd try to skin the head off the skin so I wouldn't have to make anymore cuts.. Had no problem there. I used the real head after rebuilding some and I tryed not to use to much clay on the lower mandible because the opening sure looked small. I had a hell of a time pulling the skin back over. Is it that hard on a fake head or what. I like not having to sew the neck up. I almost gave up and I had wet cotton in the head while I was doing all the other stuff. I had to wet the heck out of the head to get it over and I thought for sure I was going to rip it but I didn't and it came out real nice in a preening pose. Any one have any tips on getting the skin pulled over the skull I'd sure apreaciate, I would like to use this tecnique more often . Thanks Pat

After you fluff the feathers for mounting then you wrap the head skin with saran wrap? Do you sew the body up first before you pull the head skin over and clue? Maybe if I get the head taken care of before I sew up the belly it might go a bit easier. I'm not a quitter so I will try different ways. I have 5 birds of my own to experement with. Thanks Pat
