In a similar post by Nancy M. regarding hard-to-find glass eye sizes, I'm curious if anyone can suggest a supplier that handles all guages of wire. I stock the standard 16, 14, 12, etc.. but occasionally I "need" a 15, or 13, etc... I believe Van Dykes has the largest selection, but was curious if anyone knows of a place to get "all" sizes, even if not a taxidermy supplier. Thanks.

Try your local steel fabricators, or anyone who would sell vinyard supplies if you live in an area where vinyards are common place. Generally you do have in to buy in larger rolls, but I can buy a 100 lb coil of 14 guage wire for $40 and not pay shipping. Granted, it will most probalby last a lifetime! Don't get discouraged, as I had to go through about 100 different names and numbers before I found someone that carried all guages. ranging from 6 to 26 and kept them in stock! But now that I have, they are about an hour drive away and I can get enough to last for years litteraly, and I do not pay shipping or supplier costs. I use Black annealed wire as it is strong and supportive, yet easy to bend and it will hold its shape. That is another plus for picking out your own wire, you can see what properties it carriers before it arrives at your door step!
