I tie fly's too and searched the archives (11-25-03) and found the first part of the info I was looking for about curing feathers (borax seems to be the answer).
But I have additional questions regarding;
1. How much borax?
2. How thick? thin? paste?
3. How long do I let it dry?
4. Do I put it on both sides?
5. When it is dry, how do you get the borax off?
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer

The borax doesn't have to go on the feathers, just the skin(inside). Put it on dry and LEAVE IT. Shake it out when you need to use the feathers or use an air compressor.
Kyle,
If you flesh the skin good you don't have to put borax on them. Just air dry it and put it in a heavy plastic bag like the ones that hackle comes in. You can borax if you want but I never do because I don't know if it will affect the fishability of the fly
