I am wanting to do a duck swimming with the cut out plexi top covered with resin inside a deep wooden base. How do you secure the duck to the water resin so it cant fall out when the whole thing is picked up, I dont want the duck to be removable.

It's covered in the Breakthrough Bird Manual...but I'll give you the basics.

Look at reference to see how the particular species sits on the water. Make a pattern that, when the plexiglass is cut, will allow the duck to sit at the proper height in the water. Cut the plexiglass at an angle so the longest part of the angle is on the bottom and the shortest part is on top. Set the duck in the hole and check for fit. You may need to remove more plexiglass (don't remove too much to begin with...you can always remove more, but its near impossible to add it back).

Next, use a plastic sheet to make a barrier between the duck and the plexiglass...tape the sheet to the bottom of the plexi. Use some resin that is starting to gel and brush it all around the duck up to the plastic sheet making a "dam" around the duck...Once this has set and cured, remove the plastic and pour some resin to help blend the "dam" to the plexiglass.
