Quail quandary-conundrum-query

I got a bird back from a taxidermist about 4 months ago. I noticed the other day the skin on the bird's legs seems to have flaked or shrunken off. There are white cracks or patches showing through. I can't think this is normal. Is this something I should ask to be repaired, or should I ask for a refund? Am I just blowing smoke? I am completely inexperienced with birds, which is why I had someone else do it. Any suggestions on how to handle it would be helpful as always.

without knowing the quality of taxidermist you used, its hard to make an accurate answer. but, knowing that it is a quail, there isnt much to the legs. you are probably just seeing dryness, which is probably the norm for taxidermists nationwide. i do several birds, and on my quail, i just inject with preserves-it. everything larger gets mastersblend, but there isnt much to shrink on a quails foot.

if the rest of the bird looks good, i would probably let it slide.

the quail is hanging from a bobcat paw and so the legs are very visible?

so its flying?

if it is flying then the feet should be bent upward and closed. that tucks them up toward the belly and puts them nearly out of sight. are the feet on your bird stretched backward toward the tail? if so, then i would guess you should use a better bird taxidermist next time.
