This is my second bird ever. Seems that the duck skin has stretched more than it should have. I probably was to rough. How can I prevent this next time and will my mount come out tonight when I place it on the manican?/
Any advice during mounting?

You dont need the skin tight on the body, you need it loose, this will allow you to taxi the skin and align the feather groups.
You would be way better off with this skin than one that was tight so to speak.
Your skin may have streched a small amount during washing, but most of it happened during the fleshing process. I would guess that your bird had a lot of fat on it. When you flesh that fat off it allows the skin to be more flexable and relax giving you more skin to work with. It's nothing you can prevent but is not a bad thing. You never want to put a larger body back in the bird that what came out. If you do, you will have a lot of headaces on other areas of the bird work. As the bird drys the skin will shrink a little and you can pin the skin up in some area to help. You always want the skin to be a little loose so you have room to taxi it around.
Good luck.
