what type of tool do you use to cut the wing and leg bones? also does it shatter ? i usually cut it at the joints then use a hacksaw blade to make a nice cut. i just was wondering if theres something faster to get the same results? thanks, chris

i use a dremale tool with a cut off disk,it works great for me
Availible at hobby shops make a very fine splinterless cut.
I never have to cut through a single bone, I just sever them at the tendons with a sharp blade, I know exactly where to cut the shoulders to reach the keel attachment.I use the whole humerus and tibia bones when I mount birds unless I am using an artificial leg.
band saw works well also
Not sure if exacto is spelled right (or X-acto?), but it cuts the ends of the ulna, radius, tibia, humerus and the back of the skull very easily. I have three saws, the best has a nice handle and a blade width of 1 1/2 inches so it works for large skulls like gulls or herons where the original skull is used. The teeth are very fine but cut with little effort.
Bonnie S. - in order to remove the large amount of fat from within the ulna (and sometimes radius) of the wing, often a cut is made to work out the fat. If done carfully, the tendons are not damaged and are still attached to assure proper wing alignment. A dremel tool with a grinding bit also works well to simply drill the end to remove fat, but Chris asked for what we used to cut bone.
I also drill a small hole using the Dremel tool in the other end of the bone, then when washing, run a piece of wire in aand out of the bone and it will flush the marroa and fats out without the splatter of an air hose.
