I am working on a canada goose,I skinned washed and degreased it the other day.
I feel like I washed and rinsed it well. I used 6 different sol. of Dawn and rinsed clean. Still the cheek patches did not come out as white as I thought they should. I have not done many geese and was wondering if it is normal for their cheeks to have an off white cast to them?
Thank you.

The patch is never truely white. It is generally a very pale tan color to be honest, or a grey. Agaist the black/brown neck at a distance appears snow white, but in the hand, it is anything but.

I shoot a boat lot of Canada's each season and the cheek patch can vary from bright white to white with lot's of speckled black in the patch making it look almost gray. Chances are what you have is what it looked like after it was shot. I wouldn't worry about it.
Thanks guys.
