I have checked the archives but no good results. If I want to ship a game bird skin, can I just salt it, put it in a bag, then in a box, then ship it? Or is there more to it.

on what you plan to do with the skin after it is shipped,
If you plan on using it to mount, then I'd just freeze it and ship next day. Salt will dry it out and make it harder to deal with for taxidermy purposes.
If you're just using the feathers for crafts or something, then throw some borax on it and ship. It should be fine.
