Howdy, Can anyone tell me if there is a state where magpies can legaly be taken to mount? Please E-mail me directly, I do'nt check here often. Thanks, Gary

None, they are protected.

How ever in Europe they can be hunted. as can the europeon Jay.


Migratory Birds

Magpies are in the Family Corvidae, the same as crows and ravens. They are Federally protected.


Try Colorado

I know they can be taken with falcons and if I'm not mistaken they can be shot as well. They are not listed as migratory birds in colorados small game brochure but the common crow is. I guess cause they don't migrate. As least they never did when I lived out there. Hope this helps. Ron
