i`m not to sure why someone would want to do this but I had a guy ask me about making him some decoys out of a real skin that he was going to be using out in the field, why he would want to do this I dont know, but he said he just wants to skin the bird out and throw it over some kind of form(lol)nothing fancy. Now I have only done 3 birds and i used borax on them but this guy would be geting the skins wet and so on.So is there a way that i could tan the skins and would that even protect them when they got wet/hot and so on? Or should i just tell the guy to buy some decoys, it`s not worth the time?

Not much yoiu can do but try to hold them together a little better. He should also know that getting them wet will decrease there longivity. Have fun
spray them with silicon. that's what i do with my stuffers and they haven't changed color and hold up to a lite mist or snow. you have to spray a couple of time through out the year.
