Does anyone know if there are wood duck heads with the eyes and rings already installed available and if so who carries them..?
Thanks

Were eye "capsules" made my a company in Eagle Lake, Alaska. I don't think they're still in business and I haven't seen them marketed by anyone else. If any of you know where these heads are marketed, please post it here. The capsules allowed for a #10 glass eye to be sandwiched into the head and had beautifully articulated eye rings.
haven't seen any of those in quite a while. They were top notch.
TJ, I've pretty much seen all of the available ones on the mrkt and haven't been pleased with any of them.
My best advice would be to learn to sculpt with apoxie sculpt. Spend a day working with a spare head and you get it down pretty good. Once the process is learned, it's quicker and easier than trying to use the prefabs.. and it looks better.

He carries the heads George is describing .Give him a call.
Thanks for your help,, as you guessed it, I have some wood ducks to do and I'm a bit concerned about the eye ring...I ordered a pair of flex eyes and have seem them on other mounts..and they look like what they are...plastic! :( I have searched the archives on this subject many times and there is much info..but much of it is conficting, particularly as to wether or not to leave the real eye ring in place, tuck it or overlap it or to remove it completely... I agree that the making your own is definetly the way to go but I tryed that and failed miserably LOL
Who is Anthony Eddey and does anyone have a phone number for their company?
Thanks

One technique I tried with fairly promising results is to use a small syringe and gesso just like when you are restoring the bumps on deer noses. Small beads of gesso placed over the existing eye ring. The initial pass will string together and give you a complete ring. After that dries, you can go back over the ring with wider spaced beads to give the bumpy appearance, and build up the front corner of the eye. Then paint. You could modify by using apoxie sculpt first, then adding texture with gesso.
Thanx guys. I will give him a call. They're without equal for untalented people like me.
