I just finished my 2nd bird and it turned out better than the first, but i am still having trouble with a few things.First is the head. When i skin it out and try to clean it off it always breaks. Then when i mount it it looks like crap.what do you think about using an artificial head.are they hard to use?The 2nd thing is the wings.I took out all of the meat in the wings and now the feathers dont seem to be holding tight.do i need to put any clay or anything in there.i would appreciate any and all help...thanks

WASCOS bird manual, all of us can post things that may help but the photos and drawings in the books well help you more. I never use a artificial skull of gamebirds, there is just no need.
Yes you need something in the wings to replace the meat. Clay, apoxie sculpt, caulking. you have disrupted the feather roots and its hard to get the feathers to lay in place.
Dont expect your second or even 100th bird to be show quality. Its a long road to perfection and God got it right the first time, more of less then there is evalution along the way that makes minor changes.
Better luck on your next bird.
