dremel tool

has anyone ever used a dremel for de-fatting a game bird? thought i would give it a try but not until i hear from more people. i bought a small wire wheel for it.

You would be better off with a pair of sizzors or a serated spoon. Might be ok to do a upland bird.


Fat Vac

I use a Fat Vac that can be obtained through McKenzie's. It has a special wire brush and a plastic tube that fits over the end of the dremel. You place the brush flush with the end of the tube and it does a good job of liquifying the fat without burn through. It is supposed to pull the fat into the tube and into a collection bag, but I have not had much success with this. On larger birds, I crosshatch the membrane over the fat first, and then use the Fat Vac.
