Turkey degreasing?

I looked in the archives, But may have overlooked if it is there.

I only mounted a few Turkeys last spring and will open my options to customers(full body)this spring. I washed the few birds I did last spring with warm water and Dawn, is this strong enough to degrease Turkeys or should I use something stronger like Kemsol? I have been using Kemsol on alot of my greasy mammals and was curious what it will do to Turkeys?

Degreasing a turkey really isn't any different than degreasing a goose. They're just a pain to do. Skin out the turkey, then defat the bird on a wire wheel. I also use a small hand held wire bursh and scizzors to get into some spots. Remove all the fat that you can possibly get off. Then go over the entire bird once again. Wash the bird in Dawn detergent, here I use a soft tooth brush to make sure the detergent get into every spot on the bird. Then rinse, and rinse, and rinse, and rinse. Using clean water everytime. There should be NO detergent left in the feathers what so ever. If you have any doubt rinse it again. I then put the bird in a washing machine on spin cycle. After the spin cycle is finished, I use my blower to dry out all the down feathers.
