Is it true you cannot possess a hawk feather - even if it was
found on the ground on your property - they due molt don't they?

it's illegal, plus no song birds or much else for that matter. There was a story a few years ago where a young boy took a blue jay feather to school and the parents got fined. Nice warden!

Thanks for the info... I'm so anal I just had to call the
Warden myself... we've lived by the river where there are
lots of Hawks, ducks etc. for over 30 years & never Knew!
Who Knew! :-)

I'll just have to have a talk with those birdies & tell them to drop their feathers somewheres else now won't I!

We are all anal when it comes to that. I remember seeing it in very small print somewhere when I heard about the blue jay thing. Sad part it is a federal issue and if you get the wrong warden it can get get out of hand.

Old Hawk Mount

Would it be illegal to have in posession an old red tail hawk mount that was done by a reputable taxidermist around 1968. I believe this was before hawks and other birds of prey were considered endagered. What are the rules on this?
