EJ had a good question on a hawk

Quote: Would it be illegal to have in posession an old red tail hawk mount that was done by a reputable taxidermist around 1968. I believe this was before hawks and other birds of prey were considered endagered. What are the rules on this?

The reason I brought this back to the top is my family has a snowy owl mounted probably 60 years ago that I let my cousin take just because being a taxidermist I felt It was pushing it. I have never gotten a straight answer from anyone on this.

I was told that you can have it but still can not sell or barter for it. Giving it away is fine. I would think this would be true in all states, but stranger things have happened.

How do you prove its older

If someone wants to press charges... THEY have to prove you have committed a crime. The burden of proof is not yours. We are innocent until proven guilty in a America.
