Lesser Prairie chicken

Submitted by Eric Schmidt on 03/20/2004 at 22:09. ( Schmidte217@aol.com ) 152.163.253.3

I have been trying for about 8 months now to set up a hunt for my brother, dad and I to go hunting Lesser Prairie Chickens with no luck. Just wanted to get on here and see if anyone happened to know of anyone that might be able to steer me in a better direction. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Eric Schmidt

Mike, you are right that the Sandhill region is full of prairie chickens, but I believe they are greaters. I think you need to look at Texas or Oklahoma for Lessers. Contact Dave Cowley, he had an article in one of the magazines a few years ago about a lesser chicken hunt. Mike

There are lessers in southwest Kansas. Contact Fred Neier at Rattlesnake Creek Outfitters. 620-723-3005, or www.rattlesnakecreek.com

Good luck.

I really appreciate all the help so far, but I really want to try to get a hunt inside of Texas for the Lesser's if possible, but I will look up the southwest Kansas guy and go with him if he does have lessers, but again thanks to everyone so far, and keep it coming if you can.

thanks,

Eric Schmidt
