phesant necks

i just did my first standing pheasant mount if turned out good but it just seems that the white ring on the neck should be higher did i do something wrong because i've done 10 plus flying pheasants and the ring is just wright. and i now my neck was the wright size also any anwers would be great thank you for your time

It's All about the "S" Curve!

If your neck is measured correctly, then where the ring is...depends on your "S" curve and attitude of the bird. If he is alert his neck will be up higher, if he is resting...the ring and neck will be lower and tucked flush against the body...Just look at as many reference pic's as you can...You'll get it! Good Luck!

If your reference tells you the white ring is higher, Move the skin up the neck till it looks like your reference. If the neck is too big it will prevent you from doing that.
