filling turkey brest

Submitted by Tim on 03/24/2004 at 15:24. ( kyfowlplay@yahoo.com ) 139.55.49.108

have filed the brest with both poly fill & just stated using the caulk in them. i like it better till it finds a hole & gets all over the feathers. lost a bird on Mon. to this , i rewashed the bird & even but in gas for about half a hout but the feathers had that "fray" look to the tips. so is it better to use the poly fill? and were could i get a long set of tweasers about8-10 inches long to get poly fill down into the bottom of the breast?
open to any ideals & help.
Thx. Tim

I reccommend that you sew all the holes before using the calk. Make sure there is no spots that the calk can leak out. The frayed feathers "or split ends" usually results from tumbling too long. You dont even need to use a tumbler. Better luck next time.

do you think after sewing up all holes it be wise to maybe to but some superglue with some used dryer sheets on the seams to help keep caulk out ?

That sounds like it would work but Ive never tried it. The great thing about Taxidermy is there is a bunch of different techniqes out there, the thing is to find what works the best for you. I wish you the best of luck. Some of the best ways to do things have not yet been developed.
