If you take in already frozen birds you really have no way to tell what they are like, and you need to tell your customers that up front that there may be additional charges for damaged feathers that you have to replace. Now you need to call them and tell them that the bird is missing feathers. They will be upset, but not as upset as getting a bird that doesnt look good, or finding out that the bird is going to cost a bunch more because of your extra work. Make that clear up front. As far as the amount of extra charge? That will vary. Figure your time and put a value on it. If you have to pay for parts just add that on and add whatever percentage you feel comfortable with. You can also just boost your overall prices a few bucks a bird to cover these types of problems. That seems a little less painful to the individual customers in the long run. If you are already at the top of the scale in comparison to your competion that may not be the way to go.
Again, Figure your time and put a value on it. If you have to pay for parts just add that on and add whatever percentage you feel comfortable with.
Good luck
i have called them ,like i saied i charged one $25 for a tail. but now my surplus is all most all used up.unless some friends help me out again this year. just wanted to know what was a fair price to charge .
Thx. Tim
I know this must look like im an Ebay fanatic but go on Ebay and type in turkey feathers. There are a bunch. I personally dont do turkeys, because I just have never gotten into anything other then ducks, upland, and geese.
Earlier....I just got rid of 2 wings,a head, and a couple of legs.
I still have on head and leg combo that is sold pending payment....I havent heard anything from the guy in a while though. You might want to check with me next week if you need a head or some legs.
