I read an article from last winter's Breakthrough Magazine, where Dave Luke used Potato Starch to dry a dove he was mounting. Has anyone else used this stuff, and can you use it on ducks and geese? Thanks*

Potato Starch works great for Doves quail and other small gallinaceous birds. Not recommended for ducks or colorful birds like Pheasants.

Potato starch has been used for many years by European taxidermist wishing to either absorb blood , or reatin the nice powdered look that doves/pigeons , herons and parrots all exhibit because of the bloom they are able to produce.

Thanks guys!

Thanks for the info. I have pet cockatiels, and they sure are dusty! I'll be sure to use starch on dusty birds like doves. Thanks again! Becky
