hey- im in the process of working on my first bird. So far so good, shes drying as we speak and looks good.... except i need to paint the feathers to match another one, for a show.

what type of paint (oil, acrylic, water, what?) and application method do you recommend - so it looks as real as possible, or atleast as close to!

thanx!

ok
so the more i look around, i notice that airbrushing seems to be mentioned most in relation to taxidermy (not that its mentioned alot, or more than twice, actually).

Of course ive never used an airbrush nor do i have access to one.

so, other than airbrushing, any reccomendations, advice, tips, etc?

thanx again

why do they need to match?

maybe you have a good reason...but you mounted two different birds, and they are each individuals. therefore they will have their own characteristics.

i havent painted enough feathers to tell you im an authority on the subject. but ive painted some. i dont really know how you would do it convincingly without an airbrush.

if you are serious about taxidermy, you need to invest in an airbrush.

good luck
