Hi there

I know this will silly but I want to have a go at mounting this bird I have in my freezer. I was freshly killed when I found it. I figure I have to take it's skin off, but where to start. And if I manage to get it off what do I cure in with? Can any one suggest a site or give me some basic information.
Thanks a lot

....Is to make sure that the bird you have is LEGAL. Back when I started doing this, over 40 years ago, things weren't so.......touchy. We started with anything that we found or could down with a BB gun. Looking back, I'm sure that there were illegal things involved, even then. I am just saying be aware of what the laws are. You were pretty vague, so I am thinking, it might have been on purpose.

The basics of bird skinning are the same as they have been for a LONG time, you should be able to get a book at your local library to explain this process. Once you get past the skinning( it can take several birds to get this far) the Breakthrough manuals are a great place to start, but this will require an small investment on your part.

Too lengthy

Hi Annie,

You'd be doing yourself a favor by ordering a video, or book on mounting birds from one of the Taxidermy supply companies. They are very educational and would help you much more than having someone try to explain it to you step by step via Email. Also, you didn't say what kind of bird. Be careful, posession of some birds can get you in LOTS of trouble with the law.

David
