side pocket feathers

I am fairly new to taxidermy. I have done 3 birds now and I am having trouble getting the wing to fit neatly into the side pocket so that the feathers cover it. Would it help to cut some of the form out in that area so that the wing sits in the pocket better? Or is there another way I should try to correct this? Thank you.

Side pockets

Your body may be too big or you may be trapping skin and not allowing it to move with pins etc. Stack side pocket feathers before you pull them over the wing. Start at the front with a long pin and lift each feather than pull the whole group over the wing. The pocket feathers on divers sometimes twist making them more difficult.

I might suggest that you use lighter wing wire. I have found that if I use too heavy of a wire then my wings are more difficult to position.
