question on lifetone lacquer paints

Submitted by R.K. on 04/30/2004 at 13:57. ( ) 66.242.70.69

I searched the archives some and didn't really find anything to answer my question. If I were to use a thinner or retarder to thin my lifetone paints, is there a proper mixture or do you just have to guess at it? I am using a pasche single action and trying to get it to spray a fine line without the tip clogging up right away. Thank you.

Thinner will speed the drying.

Retarder will slow the drying. you need it to dry on the fish not between your air brush and the fish.

You can start with 1% by volume of retarder and adjust for there. I use more retarder for a smoother paint flow.

Then you can adjust air pressure and get smaller more detailed work.

I usually

I usually only use a few drops when I am painting shoulder mounts but what I usually use is 1 drop less than the number of drops of paint in my cup 4:3 6:5. Retarder makes a huge difference I have always fought my airbrushes until last winter when John told me to use retarder, the difference is amazing. You can buy from sherwin williams in gallons for 20sum bucks.
