Liqua-cure

I have a number of ducks to mount. Only have mounted a few before and used dry preservative to mount. I plan on skinning, degreasing, washing and rinsing, then freezing till I get eyes and bodies in. My question is...when I thaw skins to mount,is it okay to then put in Liqua-cure,then mount? Need opinions and procedures on use of Liqu-cure. Thanks!

Stick with dry preserve on your birds. Heck, 20 mule team borax is better than liqua-cure in my opionion! Same opinion on liqua-cure when used on fish.

Sounds like you've done ok with DP. Don't try and fix it if it aint broke! Your procedure sounds right on track. Add a tumble in puffed borax or cob grit and you're set!

Remember, this is just my opinion.

Good luck.

Go with the Liqua Cure

I know of others out there who swear by Liqua Cure...the skins are more workable and I have seen dried out duck skins that were destin for the trash be saved by it! they were soaked for 2-3 days in it.
I am in a very dry climate and Dry preservative is good to a certain extent but it will turn them into crispy critters with weak papery skin if I use to much....don't know where you are located.

-Good Luck
