Thanks T.J. Have some Owl Questions

Submitted by Gary on 06/08/2004 at 00:22. ( ) 198.81.26.75

Got a permit to do an owl that was road kill for a school. Need some advice on tumbling the bird. Do I leave the skull attached to the skin or take it completely off. Should I wash it like other birds in dawn. Are thereany suppliers that sell owl reproduction heads with eye cups. The head was pretty torn-up. Finally the feet are scrunched up pretty tight, is there any way to releive the tension for an open foot mount, standing on a limb. Thanks for any suggestions and help.

LOL - that was funny! But seriously, you don't want to take advice from me, I'm still relatively new to this and I haven't found an owl in my backyard yet :)
Tony and others will give good advice, the only thing that I could add is, why don't you try hand drying your birds with a shop vac or a cool hair dryer? Don't own a tumbler, nor do I want one...Besides the final grooming, that's my favorite part anyway, seeing them fluff up and become beautiful again...
Good luck on your project
