old fashioned, but the public library is an excellent place to start. I would also recommend that you search your local area for a person that is already raising waterfowl, visit with them. Another option is to use one of the search engines and type in what you are looking for - there is a plethora of reference material regarding raising all kind of birds there. You could also make a trip to the local book store - if there is nothing on the shelf, the book store staff can help you locate reference material and order it for you - If you are close to a University with an ornithology department I suspect you can find all kinds of assistance there. Good luck.
@ Allen Publishing LLC,P.O. Box 171227, Salt Lake City, UT 84117-1227 is a magazine devoted to bird raising and breeding. It covers all types of birds and is also an excellent reference source and supplier advertisement for pen raised birds. It will also provide a means to start talking to other breeders in your area, perhaps close enough to visit and see their pens and get their ideas.
If you are raising waterfowl you will need a steady, dependable supply of good water if you have more than a few birds and you want them to stay healthy. The next issue is free flight or clipped. Your climate will decide how "beefy" your top netting must be (snow load). If you do get one built, be prepared for spending a lot of time being "diverted" from your work by the birds. Not an altogether bad thing though.
Good Luck.
