You want your tumbler to spin slow 10-15 rpms for birds. the easiest way is with a gear reduction motor. there is a formula for caculating rpms. Take your motor rpms multiply that by the size of your pully or gear on the motor then divide that number by the pully or gear size on your drum. Example: motor rpms 100 , motor pully size 2", drum pully size 10" 100 X 2 = 200, 200/10 = 50 rpms. Its a ratio thing. Hope this helps! By the way a regular electric motor probably will not work, the rpms are to high (1750 or more) to reduce down with your pully or gear sizes.

I should have checked my math! The example rpms will be 20 not 50.
