Submitted by jon on 07/13/2004 at 15:43. ( jonathan@harlequintaxidermy.com ) 68.184.178.161

Date: Aug 7, 2004
Place: Rough Creek Lodge, Glen Rose Texas.
Cost: $20 to cover Lunch and snacks/sodas

Workshop for novice to experienced... I can host up to 12 people, and I have approximately 6 seats left open. There is limited space, so it is on a First Come, First serve basis. Email me to reserve your seat. You bring your own bird and supplies and we will work as a group.
Contact me for your reservation (required) and/or additional information such as accomodations and what to bring.

Dinner will be at the loco Coyote that evening. All you can eat ribs and FREE BEER!

Looking forward to meeting new faces.

This is for birds up to the size of a small STANDING GOOSE..I would not recommend things such as dove. Must be legal. Waterfowl or pheasant would make good projects.

People like you are how I got a start in this madness! I had a local taxidermist invite me into his shop and showed me the ropes. He lit a fire in me that has turned into a inferno! God Bless and have fun!

Is it legal to mount a road-kill hawk?

I saw a rare sight this mornig coming to work at Marshall Space Flight Center. A large hawk apparently had been hit by a car. I don't know when it happened but it was sometime in the last 24 hours, probably early this morning. I did not examine the bird, but I think hawks are special and I have been in awe of them practically all my life.
I think they are protected, so it occurred to me that this might be of some interest to you. How long will it be before it starts to decompose beyond being able to be mounted? What about its injuries? Just driving by, it appears to be mostly intact. We're expecting very hot temperature today and I will not have an opportunity to check on the bird again before lunch. It's also possible that the grounds people may dispose of it before I get back to it. They are Johnny-on-the-spot to keep this place litter free.
Should I just forget about it, or is this something that merits more attention?
Please call me asap at 256-544-4417 or my cell phone 256-508-9470.

IT's a waste of a bird

But they are illegal to possess without proper documentation, that will take far longer to get than the bird will last on the side of the road.

Your best bet, is to call a local museum or gw in the general vacinity and let them know what it is and where it is. If they so desire to go retrieve it, then maybe they will.

But if I were you, I'd leave it alone.

Your place is way to far for me to go, but if you'd just send me some of that free beer and ribs id appreciate it.
