Pheasant Eyes

Submitted by Dana on 07/27/2004 at 11:48. ( FoxTrapper@hotmail.com ) 216.51.213.47

Awhile back when I first started doing taxidermy, one of my first mounts was a pheasant resting in the grass, and he turned out surprisingly well for a beginner. Buy anyway, I got his eyes a little too buggy, and I was wondering if I could relax the eyes enough to push the eyes in deeper to the clay and reset them or if this would be detrimental to the mount. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Dana

What did you use to set the eyes If you use sculpal or some kind
of epoxie I say no..but If you use paper mache and maybe plaster maybe yes..might be a lot of patient work Involved best to get em right from the start?

Correcting eyes

If you used nonhardening clay, no big deal. Stick a pin through some paper towel then wet it. Pin this wet paper towel ball between the eye and the eye lid. It will moisten up nice after an hour or so. Then redo

Thanks Mike,

I thought maybe I could get away with it, because I did use non-hardening clay so that should work then, Thanks.
