Standing Turkey

I was wondering if I need to put wires in the Turkey wings for a standing mount. I have done flying Turkeys and obviesouly wired the wings. Being that the wings are so large on the turkey is it nessecary to wire the wings or could I just card them in place? Thanks in advance.

Wire Them

I would wire them if I were you. On a big bird like a turkey, you need to make sure the wings are securely attached. In my opinion, just pinning them in place is not sufficient.

I never do

Though I do make a long staple to hold the upper wing bone to the mannikin and I make a long straight pin to tack the lower bones in place through the skin. (A strutter gets wired, however, so I can position the wings to drag.) I find wiring the wings on a stander often gives me extra problems with adjusting the scapulars, so I don't.
