turkey help !

i am no pro at turkeys but i mount a few every year well i received a bird that was froze with a lot of the wide chest feathers very bloody , and seperated well i washed it degreased it etc the feathers will not return to there natural state i am wondering if there is a way to maybe steam there natural position back? if so i am wondering what type of steamer shall i use. thank you very much joe!

Joe,
Try rewashing the skin and rub dawn on the feathers. Rinse completely clean. Then tumble it and possibly blow dry it on cool. Repeat if neccessary. This should work, but if it doesn't let me know. You may have to aggetate the feathers to release the hold.

It may be missing some if they don't look quite right. But I wash them, and then dry them with the blow dry on low heat. This seems to bring things back.

degrease?

When you say degrease, do you rinse the water out of the bird with a solvent such as odorless mineral spirits? If the feathers are bunched up, this is usually an indicator that you left grease behind, which will stick to the feathers during washing and/or tumbling.
