Are the legs of a flying chukar bent up under the bird like pheasant or straight back like a duck? I have not been able to find any photos of flying chukars. Also the legs are a reddish orange with transparent white tipped scales. How does one keep that effect while painting the legs? Thankyou in advance.

Hi Ed
CHukars, like all game birds, fly with their legs pulled up...painting is not my one of my finer points, maybe someone else could help on that one..
Good luck
TJ
Ed, The feet should be tucked under as TJ says. here is the way I have been painting my Chukar feet.
Start off with a light flesh color. mist the whole leg.
now using red I darken them to what I feel is a good tone. than I mist a transparent orange. this should put you close. now as for the white .. I water down white and give the legs a wash coat. you can even add a small amount of a pearl color. Hope this helps you.
