Anchoring a landing pose Snow Goose

Submitted by BlackDuck on 9/2/04 at 1:55 AM. ( ) 216.51.213.47

I am planning to mount a snow goose in a pose like he is coming in to land in a cornfield near an old fence(its gonna be a diorama)and I was thinking about anchoring him to part of an old steel fencepost. I have seen other mounts in Breakthrough where they show birds anchored by their feet to hide the wire. I was wondering if this is possible. If so, what size wire do you recommend? Any help would be great.
Thanks,

You have already seen this done, and you are still asking if its possible?

Using a heavy (and stiff enough) rod you can attach firmly inside the form and to the post, yes, its possible.

Might be more impressive.....

.....if you would anchor it by a flight feather or a tail feather. This would require you to fabricate the feather from some flat stock and then weld it to some tempered wire. Attach the goose to this after painting and detailing the (faux) feather.Hide the wire in an actual reed shaft or make it look like a vine or something like that,as long as it fits in the overall look of your base. Now this would be impressive.Attached to an iron fencepost doesn't do it for me.Good luck...JL
