I recently picked up a new customer , A local nature Center located in a large Metropark with the proper permits.
They want some song birds mouted , I have never done any birds this small , i suggested sending them off to be freeze dried but due to the time involved its not an option for there billing this year .
Can anyone give me any pointers on doing these little birds.
What eyes to use
Cast a body or carve one?
Heads, are there any avalable or do i need ti clean out the little sculs?
Thanks for any input I would realy like to keep this account it makes for great advertizing.

You can carve the bodies out of rigid styrofoam, then sand. Use Floral wire for legs. Yes, clean out the skulls. Just like other birds but take your time. If you're used to doing birds, you'll be surprised at the results.
First of all if you dont think you can do them then dont . Let someone else mount them who knows how . But you can do as Sammy said . The only thing different about them is the size . Once you get used to working with small birds , its easy . I have no problems doing hummingbirds . As for the eyes , your probably talking about 3 mm to 5 mm . Just buy some blank small bird eyes and paint them to fit what you need . Rick
