I've been reading the Breakthrough book "Bird Taxidermy" and was wondering if I could substitute the following chemicals:

EdolanU with Mount Sheild?
Bird Skin Acid crystals with Saftey Acid
True-Tan SKin Conditioner with Tanning Oil

and what's the difference between curved scissorrs and ultimate scissorrs?

First of all Edolan-U has been out of production for a long time. You don't need it. It was used as a mothproofing agent in the garment and rug industry, it was found to be highly poisonous and caused cancer. As for the rest of the chemicals in the book. Bird skin acid crystals, and true tan skin conditioner. you don't need them. You don't need to oil a bird skin. Defat your birds good on a wire wheel, then wash them in Dawn detergent to degrease them, rinse the skin good 3 or 4 time's until the skin is free of all soap, then tumble dry, or use a blower without heat to dry the feathers. Use Borax on the skin, then proceed to your mounting.
