Maybe someone else that raises birds can help...I recently went to a waterfowl/bird swap and sale and bought several beautiful mature Mandarin drakes..I bought these for taxidermy specimens, anyway, I go up to their pen yesterday and 1 of them is missing its sail feather on it's back..gone! I just got down from the pen today and sure enough, another bird lost a sail feather now too!~the best 2 specimens that I had... I was able to locate 1 of the feathers...anyway..what could be causing this to happen and I fear I know the answer to this as they have already went thru their eclipse, but will they grow in another one..say before January? :)
They all seem to be getting along ok, no fighting but maybe the stress of the move caused this? I bought some last year too but didn't have this problem...
If anyone happens to have an extra sail feather, as I'm still short 1 feather..please let me know..
Thanks for any advice..
