Hey folks....first of all many thanx to those who answered my requests for the hornbill feathers.I got some nice ones from people who never thought they would part with'em!Still waiting for some red tail black cockatoo tails, and will probably wait a while for some, but if anyone can get these,I have reference letters stating they will be for personal and not for commercial use.I am also putting in a request for some blue eared pheasant tails, these look just like eagle tail feathers and would love to get my hands on some!If anyone can help me with a source, please let me know! Many thanx in advance....Jerry Greyhawk.

Fly-tying?
These birds aren't native to North America so I don't see their relevance to Native American work.
(black cockatoo feathers bear no resemblance to hawk, they are black with bright red or bright yellow).
Blue-eared pheasants aren't all that rare (buy on eggbid.com), the hornbill and the black cockatoos are.
Check eBay, some zookeeper guy sells them on there. For fly-tying.
....just the kind of response I expected....throw in the barb, then throw in the info.....may as well invite me to lunch and serve crackers....I am pretty well versed on birds and feathers, the problem is that the minute someone shows an interest, too many people see$$....I never expected to get them for free.I payed or traded for all the feathers I've gotten, and was grateful to do so.Their relevance to Native work is irrelevant to you....but if you must know,we used all kinds of feathers for work, not just ceremonial.Sometimes we wore them because they were pretty.Problem is many folks profess to be authorities on our culture(an evolving one)and won't accept that we do change things up a lot.And hey next time you send a response,to me or anyone....don't be scared to use your name...it's cowardly not to.And as it is.....the men in black make it hard to get what I believe is rightfully ours to begin with. The Natives didn't introduce DDT into the environment..until then,no one gave a s@#% about eagles and hawks, now it's a huge deal,so when we try to substitute in order to stay within "legal"boundaries,it's wrong too.Anyway, thanx for the input,I know now and always what I have to deal with to get anything, even info....JERRY GREYHAWK
i agree with u mr. greyhawk. do what u like with the feathers, and get them anyway u please. i think maybe more people should be minding thier own buisness and let u conduct yours. i wish u lick in your journeys.
Thanx Wolvie for the response...It's too bad that in this day and age,we still have to hide what we feel away.Unfortunately,we have failed in our duties as caretakers of our world, and the powers that be feel like they have to step in and take it all over.We shouldn't have to explain ourselves all the time, and be all defensive about our intents.Last time I checked, the Constitution still said'WE THE PEOPLE'...right?...we have become a nation based on fear....I wish you luck in your endeavors as well,my fellow human being. As for the rest of you, keep using what nature provides to express your visions....and may all see the beauty you walk in.
I think this guy was on here before going by the name Danny. He ripped me off on a roach he was supposed to make but never did. He got some great feathers from me and I got nothing.
....If you were referring to me ,Bro,you got the wrong guy.I don't make or wear roaches.I'm sorry you got ripped like that. It's guys that behave in such a manner that make it tough for the rest of us to get what we need. And again,we have another one who hates to use his name for FEAR of retribution.DUDE,don't be afraid of S@#t! Come off like a man and maybe I'd be inclined to help you,but don't try to wreck me just cause you made a bad call....again I'm sorry and I wish you luck...Jerry Greyhawk.
