I'm going to be starting to paint the birds that I have done prevously, and I was wondering about a few things..
First is there a diffrance between the "taxidermy" airbrushes that sell for $50+ and the ones at hobby shops for around $20? what should I look for when buying the airbrush?
About how soon (on future mounts) after mounting the bird should they be painted (or does it matter)
Also what is better to use (I relize my older mounts I won't want to switch but for future mounts) the origanol head or those heads in my catalog? And if I use the fake head how do I glue the head on and what is the diffrance in mounting? What about the fake feet?
Also (for future) is it possible to professionaly taxidermy just birds, or will I need to expand eventally to mammals? Do customers normally go to one person for everything or is it better to specalize?
Thank you everyone for all you help hopefully you won't get annoyed with all my dumb questions!

If they are the same make and model then obviously they are not different. But I have never seen a $20.00 airbrush at a hobby store. I use a Vega 2000 and a Paasche VL both double action. Some will say you just need a single action but I learned on and prefer the double. I would use artificial heads on duck mounts because of the shrinkage. As far as painting you paint artificial before you put it on the bird. As far as the how to glue and your other questions you need to buy a book or video. Sounds like there is alot more you need to learn before trying to tackle this. Breakthrough Manuals are very instructive. It is possible to specialize in just birds. But it takes a while to build up a reputation and clientele. That is why most guys and gals usually start with Birds, mammals and fish. My regular clients bring everything to me (gameheads, fish mammals and birds). Also there is alot of reading you can do with that orange button on the side of the screen.
