Airbrush Selection

Submitted by Bill on 10/31/04 at 3:34 PM. ( ) 64.28.51.87

After searching the archives I have narrowed down my choices of airbrushes to either an Iwata Hp-B Deluxe or an Iwata Hp-SB Deluxe. The specific use would be for bird beaks, bill and feet. The differences that are listed in the "Airbrush Bible" are gravity feed and side feed cups.

I would appreciate users input on whether there would be advantages or disadvantages in my selection of either of these models.

Thanks,

Bill

Gravity Feed.......

.....Will use far less paint. With the siphon feed you have to fill the siphon tube before you can begin painting and the tube is still full of paint when you are done. With the gravity fed cup on the HP-B or HP-A for that matter, you can actually paint with one drop of paint.

The side cup is a pain, it's always in the way. This is especially true when painting details and small subjects, like beaks and feet. The HP is not a volume brush anyway, so the cup is just a lot of wasted paint when you are painting details.

Thanks
