Early Birds

Just want to see what you all might do.
I had a guy stop in with 3 Canada geese all were early season birds.
I did let him know as Ive tried to do with everyone that early season birds wil have alot of feather loss and wont look near as full as a later season bird.He wants them mounted as a flock comming into land. Well I just mounted the first one up today and like I figure mondo feather loss. Neck looks thin so makes it look pinheaded.
Thats about the worse part all and all my wife thinks it looks fine I think it looks like crap. Would you if you were me call the guy and let him come look at this bird b4 working on the others or just let him get them as they are when finished?
I dont want anyone thinking this is my normal look to my birds lol.
Maybe Im just being to much of a perfectionest like my wife said but I dont want anything going out unless it looks as my best work, but then again I can only do so much with early birds I guess.
Oh well thanks and take care, Andrew

Just mounted some immature wood ducks (talk about fun). I charge 400 for a goose so I would probably let him take a look at whats hes getting. If he likes it then thats all that matters. I always try to keep in mind you can only do so much with animals/birds that are less than perfect and express that to my customers. Good luck....

A true artist can never stand to look at his own work. Learning to read and deal with customers is the skill that leads to success in business. People are motivated to get something mounted for quite a few reasons of their own. Take care of your customer first and do the best job you can. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

If you really feel that way then call him and let him look . If your honest with the guy then you might even get more business . Rick
