I use caulking (Liquid Nails) in the heads of wood duck and mergansers to get their crests up and fluffy, and also for gluing the secondaries back onto the ulna bone on the wings of all birds. I never use up the whole tube. I'd say I squirt out maybe 0.15% of the total amount of caulking in the tube each time I use it. My question is, how do I keep the caulking from drying out so that I can store it and use it again at a later date? I dont want to waste 99% of what's in the tube. Thanks for any replies! Rob

Tape the end of the tube!
put the rest in a bowl and freeze it. it also makes a nice spread on crackers!
Stick a nail in the end of the tube, and that will keep it from drying out.

that way, you asured that it is used , you get a tax wright off for your taxes and you feel good.
Wire nuts come in lots of sizes to fit the tip size you cut off and have threads to get a tight seal. A lttle teflon tape on the tip and screw on a wire nut.
use it on your deer I do, works great
Just where did he ask what to do with his left over caulk. He asked how to seal it up.
Rob the wire nut ideal sounds good to me. I use the caulk in a tube that has a snap on cap shaped like a wire nut. I don't think i would bother with the teflon tape though.
I was just making a suggestion that liguid nail works great on deer.By the way, you sound real tuff.scared me(not)
My father-in-law taught me that trick with a nail...
when you are finished with it for the day, leave a little squrit of cualk hanging out of the tip.Next time you need to use it,pull off the dry curly piece. It will be good to go.
in the smaller squeeze tube and one tube is enough generally for one mount with no real waste or left over worth worrying about. When I was buying the big tubes used in the guns, I was also getting too much waste. Just a suggestion... buy it in smaller tubes and you waste less per job.
Thank yall for your replies. You helped me out a lot! Rob
