I have read were some folks don't like to use superglue on deer lips for fear of having it crystalize and turn loose over time. I was just wondering what yall think about it long term wise for artifical heads on ducks and turkeys as well as turkey legs and seams? If there is a better product for these purposes please inform me.
Thanks Joey

I don't mind superglue for skin attachment around an artificial head, but you must make sure both surfaces are clean and dry scraped of all paint. Any of those problems going on and the glue is sure to lift.. As far as it crystalizing over time..I've never seen this happen with superglue (doesn't mean it doesn't; I've just never seen it), but once bird skin is dry, it does not pull so even if it did lift after several years, I'd think it would just be a matter of gluing it back down.
Holes anywhere else in the body should be sewn shut.. that is by far the best method. I have however used tissue paper, or cellophane and superglued over pellet holes in wings before caulking them up.

Use a quality glue..If your concerned about it comeing loose either use caulk with anchor hole around the bill perimeter or once you have the skin super glued down back it up with caulk..
Scribeing the artificial with 60 grit or useing a tiny drill for anchor holes will do the trick..
Jon is totaly right a regueing IF it happens is all that needed.
Thanks for the tip on the cellophane Jon Im gonna try that......
The gel type super glue never had a problem even with ducks
This is simular to superglue, but is uses a spray on activator. It holds as well as superglue, but remains flexable and dosn't crystalize. I use it on duck heads and cuts in dear capes.
I still don't know if I trust it. I will have to check into the tech bond. Joey A
I've had a few older mounts brought in by customers that needed "repairs" done and have found the skin loose around the face. I just cleand the area and re-glued the skin. I don't what the original taxidermists used for the glue so I don't know if the problem was with the glue or the application. It has made me wonder though what all the "super glued" mounts will be like in 30 years or so....
