bird support

I want to mount a duck flying on countertop base. I want to put some cattails and vegetation on the habitat scene. I will run a large wire behing one of the grasses to support the duck.. The wire I have is large enough but too short. How can I connect two of the pieces together. Thanks

Maybe shorten your cattails?

Could you run the wire through the cattail leave not the cattail itself, the leaves are somewhat hallow, you might have to try a slighty green leave, the dry one may be harder to run through. Just a thought.

Another thought, could you bind or fasten the two wires together, either soder or tieing, then run it through the cattail leaf, hiding the binding spot? Again, just a thought.

Is the problem the wire is to short?

I would just remove it, and go to your neighbor hood welding shop and buy a brazing rod the size you need to stable up your bird with, and oh by the way those wire come in 3 foot lengths, and then you will have plenty to work with , hope this helps Steve

Kevin , you say you want to mount a flying duck which means you didnt do it yet . Just buy some new wire before you start . Why waste your time trying to connect two wires that will probably come apart after you mount the bird . Do it right the first time . Rick

can your current wire be secured to driftwood mixed in with the cattails, a branch or something to give you the elevation and still look natural...
