Corn cob or saw dust?

I have used corn cob since I started. Earlier on reer I did use just borax, which seemed to work fine in a pinch but not somting I wanted to do all the time. I keep hearing that saw dust is better. I once tried saw dust on a snow goose and it seemed to turn the feathers a bit yellow. I haven't used saw dust since. Is this typical with white birds in saw dust?

Don't use saw dust on birds. It will get in the feather and is hard to get out. Grit is easier to clean out of the feather. I don't use either anymore. A bird guy showed me that blowing was all that was needed, nothing to clean out of the feathers. I use a blow drier without the heat. Later

I have spoke on this subject before, I totaly agree with mark, since I was turned on to blow dying only I will never go back. Just think, No dust mess, minimal feather loss, no tedious cleaning of your specimen after mounting, and no big arse tumbler in our shop. There are probably more pros than cons that I con think of right now so get rid of your tumbler if your doing birds, I did 4 years ago.
