Ever thought of using a crutch

These types of posts always scare me. I'm wondering if some young guy, trying to make a name for himself would volunteer and end up paying thousands of dollars for being dumb.

I do birds of prey all the time and when the state, feds or the schools bring them in to be done, they have to go through the nth degree of questions and proper documentation. I'd NEVER loan any of them out as "props" and I'd hope none of you get caught in such a scam either.

Proper channels

First, you spelled "school" incorrectly so you either can't spell or you can't type both of which leave me to question your credentials. Now I do have a sister who teaches third grade who may be naivette enough to go to the internet to acquire a bird of prey. She just wouldn't know any better. So here is what I would tell her...Go to the local game and fish department, they will get you pointed in the right direction. Another option is a museum, they are no more likely to loan out a raptor as they are a Van Gogh, but they may share some other connection, maybe they will have your class over for a field trip. I did a small hawk for a school teacher once. I died when it hit her class window. She called our local fish and game and they did a stand-up job helping her get necessary permits and paper work. Maybe you could start there and see what opens up. If you will give us your state or country(Canada?) maybe a local taxidermist can be of assistance.

sorry sumner

That is why taxidermists get such a bad rap. Pull up your pants, wash your hands wipe your nose with something besides your sleeve, and for pete's sake bathe once in awhile. Taxidermy is an art not something any high school drop-out can excell at. I may be snotty but I am also a professional. Just for kicks "Chukar" is the right way to spell it...

I am truely sorry on this but I can't help myself you opened the door. In your post you said "I died when it hit her class window" this is not true or you came back from the dead. I know I am a pick A$$ just having fun is all. Take care Jack

Actually the scalpel was in my left hand at birth and caused a hell of a mess...I noticed my mistake last night and was amused the snotmeister didn't catch it. It was not my intention to be mean in my first post which is why I offered suggestions from my own experience. I appreciate your sense of humor. Sincerely, butt of my own joke!

watch out

the Feds have been known to try setting people up with posts like these or phone calls asking if you can mount the Eagle they found on the highway. Every year i get a call from a guy..... im sure its the same guy, asking me if i will mount the owl he hit on the road. When i tell him, no, i cant do that, he insists that he wouldnt tell a soul. same story. same person. every year. these guys like to go fishin..... DONT BITE!

bird of prey

Why would you want to use a bird in poor condition anyway? I would hope that one of the goals of your project would be to talk about the majesty of these birds. See if you can get a local wildlife rehabber to come in with you when you do your project. That way you can have a live bird as opposed to a stuffed one.
